International families

A new country. A considered beginning.

A practical starting point for families moving to San Pedro Sula or joining AEIS from another school system.

Welcome to AEIS

Bring your school experience with you.

Albert Einstein International School is a private, coeducational day school in Los Andes, San Pedro Sula. Students study from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12, with English as the language of instruction and Spanish and French study in the program. Honduran and international students learn together.

For a family arriving from another education system, the first conversation is about the student: their current year group, previous courses, languages, interests, and intended entry date. Share that background with Admissions Director Maya Hernandez so you can discuss readiness and the next steps for placement.

Before you enquire

Prepare for a useful conversation.

01

Describe the learning journey

Note the student’s current grade, the country and curriculum of their previous school, and the subjects they have recently studied. Prior school records and placement readiness inform entry. Ask admissions which records are needed and whether any translations are required.

02

Discuss language experience

Explain which languages the student uses at school and at home. English instruction and Spanish and French study are part of AEIS. Ask how the student’s background will be considered during placement, rather than assuming that a course title in one system has the same meaning in another.

03

Plan the move alongside the school decision

AEIS is a day school. Families should discuss arrival timing, daily travel, and the practical arrangements they will need in San Pedro Sula. Ask admissions to confirm the current calendar, tuition, additional costs, and available places before making commitments.

04

Review the path to graduation

For a high-school transfer, ask how prior coursework fits the AEIS graduation requirements. Review credits, language study, approved service, the senior research project, and the arts portfolio with the school. Do not assume that credits or completed activities will transfer automatically.

Two perspectives

Make room for the student’s questions.

For families

Bring questions about placement, communication, school records, and the timing of the transition. Use the admissions guide to organize the conversation, and request confirmation of details that affect your family’s plans.

For students

Think about the subjects you enjoy and the activities you would like to try. Ask about clubs, sports, language study, and how to approach teachers when a course or assignment is unfamiliar. Your questions can help make a school visit more useful.
